A better question is; would you be a good owner for a pet snake? Florida snakes look funny, are scaly and cold blooded, and have a live diet that you have to cater for. If you can get around that, then snakes are great pets. If you have never touched or handled a snake before do your research. A good place to start is at your local exotic pet store. There they can make sure that you have everything you need to keep your snake healthy and happy. Some snakes like very hot dry climates, and others prefer more temperate climates. Florida snakes are great pets for people with pet allergies. Since they don’t have fur there is no dander to cause your sinuses to inflame, as with cats, dogs and all other mammalian pets. Snakes are also very educational for children. They are a very low maintenance pet to start your child on. This will teach them responsibility and caring for another living thing, without it becoming a nightmare for you. If you choose the right snake for you, you could have this pet for a long time, and never get on each other’s nerves.
